Architectural Coatings
COASOL™ Coalescing Aids are biodegradable, non toxic, non VOC oxygenated solvent and are widely used in architectural coatings for functional and decorative coatings.
In Decorative Coatings where new formulations require meeting with the European Directive 2004/42/CE for low VOC paints, COASOL™ is the perfect solution offering a cost effective non VOC solvent, non HAP (non Hazardous Air Pollutant) and low odour alternative. It also gives good open time and reduces the minimum film formation temperature at low percentages.
In Structural Coatings, COASOL™ has proven to perform well for water resistance and dirt pick up.
As COASOL™ helps in the surface film formation, high gloss in waterborne paints can also be achieved.
ESTASOL™ HP Oxygenated Solvents are also an alternative as a non VOC solvent according to its vapour pressure to replace solvents such as xylene, toluene, acetone and butyl acetate in solvent borne high solid coatings.

Water Based Coatings

It also gives good open time and reduces the minimum film formation temperature at low percentages.
COASOL™ has good hydrolytic stability in water based paints, together with its low viscosity and good wetting properties it has also demonstrated to help in the colour development and hiding power of pigmented paints.
In structural coatings, COASOL™ has proven to perform well for water resistance and dirt pick up.

Solvent Based Coatings
COASOL™ and ESTASOL™ are biodegradable and non toxic oxygenated solvents widely used to reduce the VOC to achieve high solid compliant coatings with good performances and lower odour.
ESTASOL™ is a non VOC according to its vapour pressure with high solvency that can be used with acrylic, polyester, epoxy, phenolic, cellulose, amines, urethane and poly butyral resins.

Wood Coatings
In low VOC and non VOC waterborne wood coatings, COASOL™ coalescing aids high film formation ability allows achieving high gloss and good film hardness for flooring and furniture applications. It has also given excellent results in water resistance tests.
2-Ethylhexyl Acetate is used for traditional nitrocellulose wood varnishes.
